Fox Run Golf Course
A beloved golf course comes under new ownership.
Fox Run Golf Course has been a beloved part of the Beaver County, PA, community since 1984. Recently, the founder of the course, Max Mesing, sadly passed away, and the course was sold to another family in the area. The course's original website needed crucial modernization, a task that the new owners reached out to Iliad to undertake. The problem was twofold: we wanted to pay tribute to Max and the legacy he created, but also give the site a modern look and recognize the new ownership.
Logo Concept + Message
Alongside its older site, Fox Run also had outdated media and branding. We were also commissioned by the new owners to create a new logo that reflected the course's long history and its future ambitions. We undertook the challenge, aiming to attract new clients and respect the legacy patrons.

We aimed to create an icon that balanced three critical concepts:
Modern
As the course transitions to new ownership and modernizes its offerings, it is critical that the logo reflects this progressive trajectory. Clean lines, a minimalist concept, and a single color are consistent with modern design trends, and reflect the course's contemporary aims.
Sporty
The bold type and energetic colors convey energy and vitality. These attributes of the logo draw inspiration from other leading sports-centric icons. Common themes can be found in logos for companies like ESPN, Dick's, and the PGA tour.
Classy
The fox's confident trot is consistent with themes of laid-back luxury that many clients may expect of a prestige sport like golf. Clients will know they can expect a top-shelf golf experience every time they set foot on the green.
Technical Solution
We wanted to create a comprehensive online presence that would immerse users in the club's legacy and current offerings, while serving as a one-stop resource center.
Information
A knowledge hub for the course was essential; we thought it very important that clients be able to conveniently find open times, weather conditions at the course, the course map and scorecard, and informative articles on various aspects of golf.
We pull live open times from the course's Google Business profile, displaying them on the website landing page. Weather forecasts are also pulled from Google, and formatted so that conditions can be understood at a glance.
The course map and scorecard are viewable and downloadable via the golf page, enabling easy access to crucial play information.
Legacy
The course has an amazing legacy, founded by Max Mesing, a PGA pro and armed forces veteran, and carefully managed by him for over three decades. It cannot get much cooler. To ensure that we did justice to Max's legacy, we spoke with his sister, Peggy, who provided us with a touching homage to Max and some photos of him and the course that we included in an interactive timeline of the course's history.
We are particularly honored to have been given creative freedom on this page, and further honored by the feedback received.
Sales
A primary goal of the website was to link to a booking system that would allow customers to book golf sessions online. We created an interactive page that enabled customers to view prices for walking and riding on 9 or 18 holes, and golf outings.
Further, we found it imperative to highlight Fox Run's track record of consistent quality via social proof. To do this, we linked again to the Fox Run Google Business page and pulled their reviews, displaying them live on the site.
Throughout the site, we included 'book now' buttons that would take the user to a third-party golf booking software, enabling online transactions for the first time in the course's history.

Results
Fox Run Golf Course has a modern webpage that honors its rich history. The website is informative, fit-for-purpose, and aesthetic. The new logo reflects its shift towards its new style and ownership.
The site receives a significant amount of traffic, over 100 views per day. For a golf course located in a county of around 9,000, these numbers are incredible.
Our versatile custom-made CMS, Atlas, has enabled the owners to modify their website as they see fit, while also ensuring cohesion with design principles.
